Sarah Weathers

Sarah R. Weathers, 89, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2021, in her home surrounded by family.  She was born August 22, 1932, in Tarboro, NC, to the late Will and Fannie Shaw.  She also attended school in Tarboro, NC.

Sarah was a faithful member of Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, for 25 years.  She was a Deaconess and was honored in 2015 for 19 years of dedicated service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Deacon William Weathers; sisters-Beulah Dawsey and Mildred Lucas; brothers-James Shaw, Robert Shaw, and Wesley Shaw; grandchildren-Joseph Vaughan and Joyce Lashley; and a great-grandchild-Anthony Vaughan.

Sarah is survived by her daughters-Bernice Vaughan  and JoAnne Turner, both of Portsmouth, VA; grandchildren-Angela Simmons (Larry), Alisa Hinton (DeAnthony), Edward Vaughan (Jessica), Juanita Brown, and Gregory Brown (Chekenia); great-grandchildren-Dionshay Warren (Dante), Rakeia Brown, Jerrell Vaughan, Raven Howard, Omari Simmons, Jonah Hinton, Jennisha Eubanks, and Skyy Jones; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
