On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, George E. Revell peacefully transitioned at Maryview Medical Center.
George was born to the late Leroy McCloud and Barbara L. Revell. Most of you know George was one of
the strongest soldiers who actually never served in the armed forces, and was not fearful of a soldiers
challenge who learned at a very young age to begin the process of overcoming what many of us knew
the life’s adversities of dealing with his health obstacles throughout the years and up until his early
senior years. Those obstacles kept him strong and allowed his spiritual journey to strengthen and
grow. George received his education within the Portsmouth School System. His careers ranged from
working in the lumber mill(s), Northwestern Railroad and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he retired
January, 2020. George was known for his outgoing personality which included sharing humor and
displaying laughter regularly with you. Everyone who met him and spent time with him was indeed in
store for some of his hobbies: attending wrestling matches and football games in early years with his
grandson, coaching youth football and called himself coaching the baseball team with his Norfolk Naval
Shipyard colleagues, and really acting like he was coaching the major league baseball at times, cooking,
fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and he also enjoyed watching the football games of
the Miami Dolphins. He later became a professional trader with no license, and became a fan of the
Baltimore Ravens and a baseball fan of the Baltimore Orioles. A few of His favorite saying were
“Everything’s Lovely”, “I’m the Boss”, “I’m Running Behind the 8 Ball” and “Work it Out’. George will
truly be missed, but never forgotten. He leaves to cherish his Devoted Wife: Paulette Lightner-Revell;
