Taquan Dion Marquis Marshall was born on June 3, 1992, to Tomiko Marshall and Desmond Corbett. He was the oldest of his siblings and a strong, loving protector of his family and friends. If he loved you, he didn’t have any problems expressing it. In fact, he took his role as a protector so literally that it kept the guys away from his sisters.
Taquan loved his mother, Tamiko, and cherished her in his heart. He wanted nothing more than to please her and make her happy. He loved and adored his son, Dion, and was the best father that he could be to him.
One of his other loves was his grandmother, Carolyn Nicholson. Carolyn raised him from early childhood to his adulthood. The bond that he had with her was incomparable; for Carolyn adored Taquan and Taquan adored Carolyn. He would mock his grandfather, Curtis Nicholson, by calling his grandmother by his grandfather’s pet name for her…”Stuff”…one of the many ways that he kept a smile on his grandmother’s face.
His bond with his uncle, Antujuan Marshall, was quite remarkable; for he aspired to be like Antujuan. He held on to every word that his uncle would say to him and cherished the times that they spent together.
Taquan attended Indian River High School. While there, he was a competitive member of the wrestling and football teams. He graduated from Oscar Smith High School in 2009.
On September 1, 2021, Taquan transitioned from his earthly life to his eternal home. Taquan accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. Taquan’s beaming smile, fun personality, and loving heart will forever be etched in our hearts and minds.
Taquan was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edward Lee Marshall and Curtis O. Nicholson, Sr., grandmother Shirley Corbett and his great-grandmother, Gladys E. Stewart.
Taquan leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Tomiko Marshall (Dink) and his father, Desmond Corbett; one son, Dion Stevens; sisters-Alexis Marshall, Dominique Marshall, Allyah Marshall, Lashala Christian, Darria Cost, Gabrielle Marshall, Desmone Gray, and Daisha Bellfield; brothers-Tashaun Marshall, O’Neal Sykes, Emmett Marshall, Jr., Terell (Ricks) Marshall, Dax Gray and Kym Marshall; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Nicholson; paternal grandfather, Mr. Cornelius Wray; uncles-Emmett Marshall (Audrey); Antujuan Marshall (Ashia), Shuane Dickens, Germaine Corbett, and Mikal Corbett; aunts-Shirley Corbett and Sylvia Corbett; four nieces-Aubrey Marshall, Armani Vann, Karlie Marshall, and Taylor Marshall; three nephews-Kyler Marshall, Currency Marshall, and Kwame Smith, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, loved ones, and friends.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. 2 Corinthians 5:8
