Garland Christian Massenburg, IV, age 33, departed from us on January 28, 2021 at home in Portsmouth, VA., after years of struggling with Diabetes. His viewing will be held this Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Corprew Funeral Home in Portsmouth, VA. Garland, also known as “Lil Al or G”, was born September 27, 1987 in Patchogue, New York to Garland C Massenburg III and Shaneek Massenburg. The family later moved to Virginia where he accomplished getting his High School Diploma and became a father all while supporting those he loved and cherished. On September 2nd, 2010 he married his best friend, Shaquina Felton and later had 2 beautiful daughters, Kristana and Gena Massenburg. He strived everyday towards putting in hard work mentally, physically and emotionally to be the “Strongest G”. He pushed through whatever obstacles came his way but most of all he loved being around Family. In his down time he enjoyed watching football (Los Angeles Chargers), playing around with music and video games, but most of all…brainstorming “A Master Plan” for entrepreneurship.
The Family has paid this tribute to him,” Lil Al was one of the funniest, kindest, most laid back persons you could ever meet. He motivated others around him, yet he has touched so many hearts differently. He has left a permanent imprint on whoever’s path he crossed and will never be forgotten.”
He is survived by his Wife and 2 daughters, Shaquina, Kristana, and Gena Massenburg as well as a God-daughter Mylani. In addition to his parents Garland C. Massenburg III and Shaneek Bradley, Step-father Jon Bradley, Sisters Fatimah Kelly and
The Family wishes to acknowledge with deepest appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during his time of bereavement. May God Bless and Keep you!!
I’m Still Here
I may be gone but please don’t cry
Death is not my last Goodbye
Death has released me of my pain
There will be a day we meet again
Don’t be blue and don’t be sad
Think back to thee fun times we had
I am always here, I will listen when you speak
In a time of trouble it’s me you may seek
You can’t see me but i see you
I will do my best to pull you through
When you speak to me I will hear
Never far, I’m always near
Be Brave and Strong my loves don’t cry
I will see you again, this is not Goodbye
