“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” Psalm 107:2
Arnold Dwight Pines was born on January 5, 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late John Pines and Margie (Hayes) Davis. His late grandmother, Rosa (Walker) Pines and his late step-father Willie Davis, both played a very instrumental role in his upbringing and life. He graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth on January 25, 1962. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy. Soon after completing his military service, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts. He married Carolyn Maddox on October 16, 1968 and they were blessed with three daughters. He worked at Gillette World Shaving Headquarters until his retirement on May 1, 1991. He attended Emmanuel Pentecostal Temple Church in Boston and House of Prayer #5 Apostolic Church of God in Brockton. In 1992 he returned to Portsmouth, Virginia with his family. He was a member of Kingdom Cathedral in Virginia Beach.
Arnold was a dedicated deacon, church choir member, avid golfer, tennis player, bowler, baseball and softball player and an anointed singer. He was called “Miracle Man” by his family because of the numerous health obstacles he overcame throughout his life. On December 15, 2020, he was admitted to Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia due to illness. He fought with everything he had and without complaint until December 23, 2020, when the Lord deemed it time to give him and his body eternal rest at the age of seventy-seven. Arnold leaves behind his devoted wife, Carolyn Pines; three daughters, Michelle Pines, Melisha Meadows and Makeesha Williams; two sons-in-law, Kyrrha Meadows and Christopher Williams Sr.; his grandchildren, Shalise, Steven, Kayla, Christiana, Jahari and Christopher; his brother Michael Pines; three sisters-in law, Frances Williams, Virginia Evans and Catherine Maddox and a host of family and friends. He will be remembered for his love of God, being a loving husband and father, his laugh, directing an imaginary orchestra for every round of “Happy Birthday”, singing “My Tribute” and meeting adversities head on with determination, endurance and faith. |
