COVID19 REGULATIONS FOR ATTENDING VIEWING AND CHAPEL SERVICES AT CORPREW FUNERAL HOME Due to the recent increase in COVID19 cases, the governor of Virginia has established guidelines to reduce the spread of this pandemic virus. In an effort to keep our families, staff and facilities safe we are asking that all visitors comply with the following directives: ** Be subject to temperature checks, hand sanitation and social distancing of nothing less than 6 feet within the facility **Facial coverings that cover the nose and mouth are required and must remain on while inside of the facilities for viewing and services ** Refrain from kissing, hugging, embracing others as your enter or leave the facilities to help reduce the spread of the virus ** If you are experiencing a cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not enter the funeral home at any time ** Chapel services are limited to 25 people ** During viewing hours, visitors may enter 10 at a time through a walk through process of viewing the deceased without lingering or having a large gathering

William Kenneth Banks was born October 26, 1952 to William Isaiah and Jean Eliza Banks in Norfolk, Virginia. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 as he entered his blessed rest. Kenny attended Portsmouth Public Schools and was a graduate of Craddock High School, Class of 1971. He was drafted to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era where his tour of duty led him to Germany. He completed truck driving class at Tidewater Community College where he received his Class-A Commercial driver’s license (CDL).
He was previously employed at Norfolk Naval Air Station in the transportation department as a forklift operator and truck driver and at Averitt Express Trucking Company. He purchased his own Big Rig / Semi Truck and became an owner operator / contractor. Kenny was well known throughout the city of Portsmouth. He was known for his dress attire, modeling, winning several best dress contests and his ability to hand dance with style and grace. He was an avid baseball player who started and managed his own team, the “Blue Jays”. He previously owned a night club and named it “Portsmouth Blue Jays”.
He had a genuine love for people and for living life to the fullest. He was predeceased by his father, William Isaiah Banks and brother, Robert Maurice Banks.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Pollard Banks, his mother, Jean Snipes, his five children, Kel Sharpe (Charmaine), Kenneth Brian Joyner, William Kenneth Banks, Jr., Krystal Yancey (Maurice) and Kentiaira Wright; three sisters, Jean Karikari (Tim), Janice Banks (Jimmy) and Jacqueline Horton (Paul); a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. |
