Norma Griffin

On June 27,2020, God swiftly sent his angels down to embrace our precious Norma Arethia Griffin with their wings wrapped around her and carefully took her home to Glory. When God called her home, she was surrounded by her family. Norma was born June 25, 1937 to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Taylor.  She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was educated in the Portsmouth School system. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and also a member of the Cherokee Club of Portsmouth. Norma married the love of her life, Carlton Griffin of Norfolk County in 1953. From that union they had three children: Carlton Cornelius Griffin (Velma) of Portsmouth, Keith Eric Griffin (Jennifer) of Georgia and Tina Griffin Bagby (David) of Portsmouth , five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Other relatives left to cherish her memory include a brother-in-law Lurie E. Roberts, Sr. and a sister in law Devetta Alston both of Portsmouth, special friends LaFrancis Rogers Rose, Cynthia Rogers, Myrna Vann and several neices, nephews and cousins. Norma was predeceased by her sister Jean T. Roberts and nephew Lurie E Roberts, Jr. Norma loved her husband, children and grandchildren dearly. She was a “sweetie” to many who crossed her path and will truly be missed.
