Willie Tyler, the son of, the late Columbus Tyler Sr., and Peggy Pugh Tyler was born on March 30, 1924 in Bertie County, North Carolina. He was called from this life to enter into eternal rest in the arms of His Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in Maryview Medical Center. Willie grew up on the farm with his parents and siblings. He attended the Bertie County Public School System. He served in the U.S. Army for several years. After forty-two years, he retired from the Norfolk Naval Base. He was a member of the Truxton Doric Ionic Lodge #90. Willie was united in matrimony to the late Clarine Bazemore Tyler. He was a caring and kind-hearted man to his family. He was also a great storyteller which his stories will be passed on to the next generation. Willie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was a faithful member of Mount Nebor and Third Baptist Church for over sixty-five years. He attended Celestial Sunday School Class and was a member of The Andrew’s Brothers Men Ministry. Willie Tyler was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Willie leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Sidney Tyler Sr. (Margretia ) of Portsmouth, Va. two grandchildren, Sidney Tyler Jr. (N.C.) and Maria Parker (James) of Dallas, Ga., two great-grandchildren, Malachi and Malia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law three special nieces, Alvan Vann, JoeAnn Alexander, and Joyce Hawkins and a host of other nieces, nephew, relatives, and friends.
