Clyde M. Wilder, Jr., affectionately known as “Mombo” passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Bon Secours Maryview Nursing Care Center, Suffolk, VA. Mombo was born in Ahoskie, NC on June 24, 1941 to the late Clyde and Claretta Wilder. Mombo resided in Portsmouth, VA, where he attended Portsmouth Public Schools. Mombo began a career in the automotive industry with Victory Volkswagon where he enjoyed working on cars. His hobbies included DJ’ing in his spare time, eating at Frank’s truck stop with his grandson Rah, and checking in as Big M Mombo on his CB radio. He was an active member and past president of Club De Porres for many years. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Mombo was predeceased by his parents Clyde Wilder, Sr. and Claretta Wilder, his sons Reginald and Ronald Wilder, and his brother James Wilder.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Vivian T. Wilder; daughter Angela Pearson (John); sisters Shelvia Brown, Carolyn Lee, Diane Wilder, Eloise Wilder, and Lavohn McDaniel, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his right hand man Mr. Ray Swinton. |
