Delores “Boo Boo” Stewart, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Greenbrier Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, Va. Delores was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on October 11, 1931 to Pearlie E. Bryant and James Grime. She was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System. Delores devoted her life to the lord early and served on the No. 1 Usher Board, the Senior Choir and the Jolly Workers at Zion Bethel, UCC. Delores, known as “Boo Boo” to family and friends was a long time employee for Hughes Florist in Portsmouth, Virginia, before retiring. “Boo Boo” was known as the “Grinch” of the family, fussing and telling everyone what to do. Even during her last days, her caretakers said she wasn’t the same, because she stopped fussing.
Delores is survived by her two daughters: Beverly E. Brown and Brenda L. Garris; four grandchildren: Lakeitha Rusan (Kahe), Veronica Pyatt, Antwanette Garris-James (William) and Brenesha Garris; eighteen great-grandchildren; twenty great great-grandchildren; one great great great-grandchild and her only living maternal aunt, Gloria Faulks. Delores was preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie E. Bryant; three grandchildren: Marie E. Morris, Angela A. Brown and Sean I. Stewart. Delores also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and childhood friends to cherish her memory. |
