Jerome Dwight Myrick was born on May 10, 1955. He departed this life on November 17, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Jerry, as we affectionately called him, was born tp the late Rufus & Cordelia Myrick. He was born in Portsmouth, VA.
He was raised in Zion Bethel at a young age under the leadership of Pastor Copeland and Rev. D. A. Peace. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High school in 1973. He also attended Norfolk State University where he majored in Automotive Mechanics. He was also a member of the Spartan Legion Marching Band and the Alumni Band. Jerry, as we affectionately called him, was a mechanic that you fix anything on a car. People would ride to find him from near and far to service their cars. He also worked as a maintenance worker for two housing complexes in the Norfolk area.
After a while of being away from his loved ones, God brought him back to us. We never know how God will work things out. He allowed us to be reunited after a three month stay in the hospital. While in the hospital, Jerry was always surrounded by his family. I would just like to say thanks to all of you. Jerry came home to live with us until God called him home. He was extremely happy to have visits from his nieces, nephews, and sister and brothers. We know that he is so happy now being reunited with his mommy, daddy, sisters, and brothers. Can’t you see all of them welcoming him into the pearly gates?
He leaves to cherish his memories, four sisters, Ellen Randolph (Tyler) of Hampton, VA; Jacqueline Myrick, Carmelita Pope (Nathaniel) of Portsmouth, VA; Bessie Walker, of New York; and one brother, Elliott Butler, of Atlanta, Ga.. Also left to cherish his memory is a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He also leaves some very good friends and family. He leaves three special nephews that stood by his side these last few months, Kamareon, Antonio, and Cahlique (Bean) Young. They kept him very busy with movies and laughter. |
