Marguerite Epps

Marguerite Epps, 86, died peacefully in her daughter’s home on Sunday, October 27, 2019. She was born in New Orleans, LA and the oldest child of the late James Marion and Rosalie McMillan.

She was preceded in death by her sister Delores Magee and her son Charles Epps.

Maguerite Epps was joined in holy matrimony on 17 January 1956 to her husband the late John Henry Epps, Sr. Marguerie Epps became a devoted member of First Baptist Church South Portsmouth in 2001. She was apart of Single’s Ministry and faithfully attended Sunday School when her health allowed. Her favorite song by Luther Barnes was “God’s Grace”

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Joseph McMillan, Renee Stephenson (Wendell), Pamela Arnold, John Henry Epps, Jr. and a favorite niece Jacqueline Pope. 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a devoted cousin Marjorie Jones, family friends

Elsie Edmond and Joyce Peebles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

“Marguerite’s loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. This day is remembered and quietly kept, and we shall never forget, for those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen and unheard but always near, so loved, so missed and so dear. We must remember that God is always there”.
