Teajuana Franklin—the First and much-loved daughter of Doris Franklin and the late Harold Franklin, Sr.— passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019. After graduating from Western Branch High School in 1981, Tea spent more than 30 years working for the Portsmouth and Norfolk Commissary and for Chesapeake Public Schools. Although she worked long hours, she still found time to work with students after school. What defined Tea’s life more than anything else was her love of God and family. At her passing, she was a member of the Alexander Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. Aunt Tea played a very vital role in the rearing of not only her nephews, but also her cousins—always combining discipline and love. Her favorite things to do were reading the Bible and spending time with family members and close friends. She was also a huge X-Files fan. Teajuana is survived by her mother, Mrs. Doris Franklin; her brother, Harold Franklin, Jr.; her niece, Moesha Pearce; her three nephews, Tariq Brown, Derrick Hurdle, Sr., and London Franklin; her great-nephew, Derrick Hurdle, Jr.; her great-niece, Mianna Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her late father and her sister, Kerona Franklin. The scripture tells us that it is better to be “absent from the body and present with the Lord.” Tea will also forever be present in the hearts and minds of all those she loved and who loved her. |
