Charles P. Wright Sr.

Charles P. Wright departed this life on Wednesday August 14th at 9:00 AM. He was a resident of Norfolk, Virginia and was called to glory from Portside Nursing Home, his last residence. He was born in Courtland, Virginia to Maynard Hill and Gladys Wright of Courtland (both father and mother are deceased). Charles attended Courtland County Schools until he left Courtland for Virginia at age 15. Charles worked many jobs while living in Norfolk. His first job was at a Service Station where he met his wifeShirley Mae Ashby. He also worked at Security Storage and Moving Company. The last place he worked before he took ill was Harrison Moving and Storage. He was a very friendly person and he loved to joke and keep you laughing. He leaves behind and will be missed by his family to include his wife Shirley Mae from Roanoke, their four children: Larry Ashby (Linda) of Greensboro, NC, Charles Wright, Jr (Linda) of Clarksville Tennessee; one daughter Rosa Wright (who predeceased him death) and Eugene Wright Mason (Monita) of Norfolk, Virginia; seven brothers: Ronald Hill, George Hill, Charlie Hill, Charles Bailey, Lloyd Hill (deceased), James Hill (deceased), John Bailey (deceased) (Carolyn); seven sisters: Hazeal Hill, Jean Henderson, Betty Hill, Nellie Brown, Gladyoia Dixon, Ruby Wycae (deceased), LaVern Hill (deceased). His Maternal Aunt Laura Jones (deceased) who raised him after his mother’s death. Nine grandchildren: Tyronia Smith (Reginald), Ashley Kearney (Kevin), Twilla Stewart (Derrick), Brandy Wright of South Carolina Portia Wright (Mike) of Richmond, Stephen Lockett of New York, Tashina Mason, Eugene Mason, Jr, Marnitta Mason all of Norfolk, thirteen great grandchildren and a host ofby Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
