Marvetta N. Vines

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin and a friend to many, Marvetta Nina Vines “Vetta,” slept away into eternal rest to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 13, 2019.

Vetta was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on August 13, 1970 to Mrs. Mary Harris and Mr. Clarence Vinson.  Vetta attended public school in Portsmouth.  She also was employed with Bojangles and The Circle Restaurant both in Portsmouth.  Though she was a hard worker for the last few years of her life, she spent time at home attending to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

We have all heard of people saying you can get my last but Vetta was one of those people who said it and meant it.  It wasn’t just talk.  All that knew Vetta knew this about her.  If Vetta had it, you could get it, no question!

Vetta leaves to cherish her memories her three children: two devoted daughters Miss Veronica Vines, Mrs. Marietta Watkins (Tyree); a devoted son Frankie Harper; six grandchildren, Nina Turner, Jamarion Cary, Jeremiah Vines, Harmony Watkins, Jaquan Wells Jr., Jewel Vines Well, and a seventh on the way; a loving sister Angela Harris; beloved uncle Elridge Vines; and special friend Dwight Bunn, along with a host of cousins, nieces, aunts, and friends.
