Edward Davis Jr.

On September 28, 1946, Edward Davis, Jr., affectionately known as Dee Cee (DC), was born to the union of James Edward and Lessie Marie Richardson Davis.  He is the first born male in the Davis clan.  On his journey, he grew in Oak Grove, and Crestwood both in Chesapeake, Virginia, and also Brighton in Portsmouth, Virginia.

As a teen, Dee Cee accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

He attended Crestwood High School, where he played football and baseball.  Dee Cee’s favorite sport was baseball and he was a heck of an outfielder.  He left school and obtained his GED.  Dee Cee went to work for Colonial Stores, Norfolk, Alspunda Tree Expert Company as a Foreman and he retired from the City of Portsmouth, Parks and Recreation as a supervisor in 2014.

He loved to sing, write and he loved the females.  Quite an eccentric individual, a very generous person, and frugal with his monetary provisions.

Dee Cee is the father of four children, LaTina Gorham (Mary Alice), Decinda Williams (Linda), Quentin Dockery (Deborah) and Eric Jones (Denise); four grandchildren, Darius, Destiny, and Jayden Williams, and Meisha Gorham.

He was an awesome provider for his family and children.  Dee Cee cherished providing for children, “more than enough.”

In addition to his parents, Dee Cee was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Emma Jean Davis, and one brother, Leamon Edward Davis.

Those remaining to forever celebrate his life and share the memories he left us with are his, sister Deloris Jones (Carl), sister Lessie Wilson (Dilly), sister Merrietta Roberts (Toot), and brother James Eugene Davis; aunt Mary Foster of Rocky Mount, NC and uncle Roscoe Richardson of Raleigh, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will held on Monday, April 1, 2019, from 12 noon to 8 pm and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 1 pm at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA  23704.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA  23321.
