Ruby L. Mincey

Ruby Lee Mincey, 81, earned her wings on March 1, 2019.  She was born in New York on October 7, 1937.  She came from a family of 15 siblings born to the late Bishop Frank and Estelle Briggs.

Ruby attended school in New York City.  She was a Master Bartender for over 40 years.  She was married to her children’s father Charles C. Franklin and later Idallian Mincey until his passing in 2010.

Ruby loved her grandchildren.  She often showed them how to play the piano and danced with them.  She was well taken care of by her grandchildren.

Ruby was loved by so many people.  She leaves to cherish her memories five children:  Antoinette Franklin, Wanda Harper (Charles), Michael Franklin (Michele), Guy Franklin (2), Marcus Franklin (Unice), deceased twin of Antoinette, Guy Franklin (1), adopted daughter, Donna Dean; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; one brother, Leon Briggs; one sister, Diane Vincent; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that love her.

She was predeceased by two grandsons, Charles Rush and Kwesi Franklin.

Viewing will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, from 12 noon to 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, 11 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 3310 Deep Creek Blvd., Portsmouth, VA  23704.  Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, 1101 Campostella Rd., Chesapeake, VA  23320.
