Hermon L. Blount

Hermon Lee Blount, the son of the late Howard N. and Mary C. Blount, was born on June 9, 1933 in Edenton, North Carolina. He peacefully departed this life on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 4:35 a.m. with his wife by his side.

Lee, as he was affectionately known, was educated in Chowan County Public Schools before joining the U. S. Marines and was honorably discharged. He was employed with C. E. Thurston and Norport Industrial for several years in Industrial Sales.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and beloved wife of 65 years, Bertha Blount. Two daughters, Deborah El of Richmond and Tamica Blount of Portsmouth. One Sister Mary Overton of Silver Spring, MD, and one brother, Howard Blount of Portsmouth. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Leon Blount and one sister Hattie L. Armstrong.  

‘Gramps’ also leaves to remember the fun times his grandchildren: Ahmed T. El (Sonia), Lamaas A. El (Clorisah), Talathia I. El, Tiana C. Gee, Kiana L. Gee, Alise N. Gee, Tamira Mitchell; great grandchildren, Ameliya I. El, Lamaar E. El, Mat’eo K. El, Selah V. El, Bella S. Williams, Brayden M. Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 12 noon to 4 pm and a wake service will be held from 5 pm to 6:30 pm at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA  23704.
