Clifton H. Savage Sr.

Clifton H. Savage Sr. entered into eternal glory on Sunday, October 21, 2018.  He was born January 4, 1926 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Jessie and Susie Savage.  Clifton was educated in the Portsmouth School System and graduated from I.C. Norcom High School.  He was a dedicated member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA where he was a member of the Senior Choir.  He would also sing with the Voices of Calvary at funerals.

Clifton retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.  He was an active member of the Truxton-Dorie-Iconic Lodge #91 for over 50 years.

Clifton leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret Savage; sons, Michael Savage, Sr., Clifton Savage Jr.; one daughter, Lydia Savage of District Heights, Maryland; one step-son, Frank Copeland; two step-daughters, Bernita Copeland and Eugenia Copeland; five grandchildren, Michael Savage Jr. (Towanda), Jabari Savage, Shartara Walker, Samara Savage, Joseph Porter; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two nephews, Ronnie Savage, Rufus Baker; one niece, Bridgette Baker all of New York and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to two grandchildren who were caregivers, Clarkson Copeland and Samara Savage, Intrepid Hospice Care, Jencare Staff and a special thank you to Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Cummingham, and to Yolanda Canty and Jennifer “Jan” Farmer, who both assisted Mr. Savage during his time of need.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 12 noon to 8 pm and the family will receive friends from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA  23704.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, 11 am at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 901 Thomas Circle, Portsmouth, VA  23704.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA  23321.
