William H. Shine

William H. Shine, 79, passed away on June 21, 2018 at Maryview Medical Center. William was born in the Churchland section of Portsmouth, VA. William worked for 35 years as a pipe insulator for Norfolk Navel Shipyard, then retired. William proudly served in the United States Marine Corp as an infantry sergeant during the Vietnam War. Dedication to duty and family is what William lived by, his love was always shown to them in every way.

William is survived by his wife, Helen B. Shine; his sister Willamae Harris; his children Geraldine Birden-Sanchez, Brenda Birden, Lynette Birden, Annette Birden-Nowell and Raymond Shine; his step-children Eugene Birden, Linda Montgomery and Diane Harvey; 11 grandchildren;  15 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on June 27, 2018 from 12 pm – 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA  23704.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 28th, 11 am at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 2417 Frederick Blvd. Portsmouth, VA  23704 with Bishop Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr. officiating.  Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
