Rickey Lee Booker

Early Tuesday morning on May 8, 2018, at 12:10 am, the angel of death quietly came into our midst and ushered Rickey our devoted loved one into eternal rest.

Rickey was born on October 23, 1958, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Rosa Long and the late Joseph D. Booker, Sr.  He was predeceased by two brothers: Roosevelt Stover and Larry D. Booker, Sr.  He met and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

He attended Portsmouth Public Schools and served in the Army National Guard.  He was last employed at Claude Landscape Incorporated in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Rickey was a loving, kind, generous and caring person.  He loved to be around family and friends.  He had a love for cutting grass and landscaping.  His favorite scripture was Psalm 23 and one of his favorite songs was “I Am Free”…..Praise the Lord, I’m free, no longer bound, no more change holding me, I’m free!

Rickey leaves to cherish his memory:  His wife, Zelois Booker; one daughter, Latoya Nixon of Chesapeake, VA; three sons, Danyelle Lee of Portsmouth, VA, Rickey LaShawn Boone of Portsmouth, VA, Ricardo Jenkins of Chesapeake, VA; three step-children, Aleta R. Jones, Keith Jones, and Qiana Hogue all of Las Vegas, Nevada; his mother, Mrs. Rosa Lee Long of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Mary Jeanette Shannon (Michael) of Lancaster, SC, Eunice Jubray (Eugene) of Portsmouth, VA, Stephanie Ashby (Oliver) of Chesapeake, VA; one brother, Joseph D. Booker, Jr. (Cindy) of Portsmouth, VA; ten grandchildren; and a host of stepbrothers/sisters, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018, from 2 pm to 5 pm at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA  23704.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018, 11 am at Noble Street Baptist Church, 100 Noble St., Portsmouth, VA  23702.
