Mrs. Marchell Renee Booker (nee Richardson) answered God’s call and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia.
A native of Portsmouth, Marchell was born July 5, 1954 to the late Paul and Lucille V. Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Jacqueline Gross of Maryland. She was an active member of Celestial Baptist Church in Portsmouth for many years. She moved her membership to New Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and then Victory Fellowship under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Allen Clark.
She graduated from I. C. Norcom High School, and the Portsmouth Public Schools Nursing Program, where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She began her nursing career at Portsmouth General Hospital. She also worked at the Portsmouth Health Department, the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, and retired after thirty years of service at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Walter D. Booker, Sr., one son, Walter D. Booker, Jr. of Chesapeake, two daughters, Neyarnda Booker-Battle (Antonio), and Renatta Bradley, both of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren,; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters: Paulette Bassett and Shirley Washington (Robert), of Portsmouth; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church of Christ, 1225 Lindsay Ave., Portsmouth, VA., Pastor Steven White officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, Virginia. Visitation will be Thursday, November 16 from 1:00-7:00 at Corprew Funeral Home.
