Tyrone “Shoney” Anthony Copeland Sr., 65, made a peaceful departure on the morning of November 7, 2017. Shoney was born in Portsmouth, VA on June 13, 1952. He graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in 1972 and immediately entered the work force. After working 18 years, Shoney later retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 99. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Tabernacle Church in Portsmouth, VA.
Shoney is survived by his son Tyrone A. Copeland Jr; daughter, Marie A. Leary; two brothers, Robert Copeland and Angelo Copeland; four grandchildren; 2 great grand children; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert J. and Annie Mae Copeland; his lovely wife Judy B. Copeland and brother Keith O. Copeland.
The wake will be held at Corprew Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Shoney’s celebration of life will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Mount Zion Tabernacle (3100 Deep Creek Blvd. Portsmouth, VA 23704). Interment will be immediately after the funeral at Roosevelt Memorial Park (1101 Campostella Rd. Chesapeake, VA 23320).
