Cheryl Ann King

Cheryl Ann King, 58, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2017 surrounded by family.

Cheryl was born in Portsmouth, VA on June 7, 1959.  She is the daughter of Joan Carol Sherrod and the late Clifton Sherrod, Jr.  Cheryl was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and children’s librarian.  She was an avid reader.  She will be profoundly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Christopher A. King; mother Joan C. Sherrod; three sons Christopher R. King, Cory R. King, Joseph I. Jones; six sisters Francine S. Williams, June S. Wynn, Michele Thomas, Talatha Boyd, Carrie A. Sherrod, Dionne Y. Gilbert; two brothers Clifton Sherrod III and Marcus D. Sherrod; two grandchildren Chloe G. King and Jordan C. King; a host of nieces and nephews, friends, including a special friend, Rosa Slaughter.

Viewing will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017, from 12 Noon to 8 pm at Corprew Funeral Home.  Homegoing services for Cheryl will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Noon at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2111 High Street, Portsmouth, VA  23704. Rev. Gregory E. Yancey, Sr., Pastor, officiating.
