George T. Bowers, Jr.

George Thurman Bowers Jr., 72, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 10, 2017 at his home after a long battle with illnesses. George is preceded in death by his siblings: Helen, Frank, Curtis and Robert Bowers, Eva Wooten and Maggie Williams.

George loved watching old westerns and being with family and friends.  He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Joyce Bowers Fields (Travis); sons, William Jerome Woodley (Precious); brothers, Gene Bowers Sr., Johnny Bowers (Deborah) of Hampton, VA, Linwood Bowers Sr. of North Carolina, as well as his only sister, Doris Ann Hawkins of Hampton, Va who has been by his side throughout his illness.  George is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 12 Noon to 8 pm at the funeral home.  A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, 1 pm at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel.
