Frances Estella Dumpson Moses, 93, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2024, at Autumn Care of Suffolk, Virginia. She was born on June 25, 1931, in Port Washington, Long Island, New York. She was a teacher, community Activist and Advocate for children. With the heart of a saint, the mind of a genius, and an unlimited concern for mankind, Frances Moses has touched the lives of everyone with whom she has encountered over the past 93 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Dr. John W. Moses, Jr. of 58 years, parents were Edward and Lillie Mae Dumpson, eight brothers, (Edward Jr., Robert, George, Raymond, William, Joseph, Alfred, Thomas) and four sisters (Laura, Margaret, Lillian, Dorothy). She is survived by one brother Paul Dumpson, one daughter Frances Moses – Knight (Rev. Adrian A. Knight), who took care of her through her illness; three sons John William Moses III (Janice), Dennis Moses (Keiko) and Victor Moses. Ten grandchildren Adriana Knight-Hunter (Dwayne), Adrian M. Knight, Sean Moses (Vitoria), Estella Knight- Williams (Dana), Natasha Sackey (Leander), Jazmine Moses, Nathan Moses (Ra’Sha), Ernest Knight (Julio), Amanda Mann, Passion Moses, Sensuous Moses. Fourteen great grandchildren Dwayne T. Hunter Jr. (Jessica), Christopher Hunter (Brittany), Akeda Hunter, Nicere Moses, Sean Moses, Mason Moses, Aziam Knight, Azreal Knight, Azmina Knight, Lauryn Sackey, Legacy Sackey, Brooke Moses, Amaris Suerogomes and Asiah Willis. One great-great grandchild Atreus Hunter, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Frances also leaves behind God- daughter Patricia Hawkins Fletcher. She will be missed all for the love she shared for 93 years. The family would like to thank the Autumn Care of Suffolk Nurses and Staff and Bon Secours Medical Center nurses and staff for their loving care during her short stay there and the support that was provided to Frances Moses during her final days. A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2024, at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, Virginia 23704. A life of celebration service will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday August 13, 2024, at the Church of Messiah, 816 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320 with Rev. Dr. Marty O’Rourke. Interment will take place promptly at 2 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 3310 Milners Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434. |
