Queenie Esther Wiltz Portsmouth, Virginia – July 18, 1926 | July 16, 2024 Queenie Esther Wiltz, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 97. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Sivells and Emma Sawyer. Queenie attended and graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia. She furthered her education at Little State College, now known as Norfolk State University, where she pursued her passion for cosmetology. She excelled in her studies and embarked on a fulfilling career as a skilled beautician, bringing joy and confidence to countless clients. Queenie married the love of her life, John Wiltz Jr., a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. Together, they built a strong and loving partnership, cherishing each other’s presence. Music played a significant role in Queenie’s life. She possessed a natural talent and had the ability to create beautiful melodies on both the piano and guitar. Her love for music brought joy to those around her and created lasting memories. Queenie’s faith was an integral part of her life. As a lifelong member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia, she found solace and strength in her spiritual community. She was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and approached her faith with unwavering devotion. Her deep reverence for the Bible led her to study its teachings intently, enriching her relationship with God and inspiring others to deepen their own faith. Queenie Esther Wiltz will be remembered for her kind and compassionate nature, her unwavering faith, and her love for music. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be held dear by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is pre-deceased by; husband John L. Wiltz Sr., sister Etta Sivells Jones, sister Mable Sivells Jackson, sister Hattie Sivells Powell, brother Samuel Sivells Jr., sister Clareese Sivells Scates, brother Leon Sivells Sr., brother Robert Sivells Sr. and great grandchild Kirk D. McCoy Jr. She is survived by; daughter Patsy McCoy, grandchild Kenneth D. McCoy Jr.(Sue), grandchild Kirk D. McCoy, grandchild Keith P. McCoy, grandchild Kevin W. McCoy, great grandchild Megan McCoy Richardson, great grandchild Syreeta Yancey, great grandchild Kenneth D. McCoy III, great grandchild Adrianna McCoy, great grandchild Keanna McCoy, great grandchild Elijah McCoy, great-great grandchild Syreena Yancey, great-great grandchild Cayden Richardson, sister Barbara Sivells Felton, brother Horace Sivells Sr. and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A memorial service to honor Queenie’s life will be held on August 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ebenezer Baptist Church, located at 726 Effingham Street, Portsmouth, Virginia. The burial ceremony will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
