Obituary Chester Fields, born to William H. Fields, Jr., and Odessa Fields, was reared in Portsmouth, Virginia. He attended the Portsmouth Public Schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1973. He was a part of “The Class That Never Was.” After high school, he joined the United States Army. He served his time at Fort Bragg. NC and Fort Detrick, MD. During his twelve years in the military, he served as a Medical Supply Specialist, and he was also a boxer for the Army. Although tragedy struck his life, it did not stop his keen thinking and his desire to help others. Chester was determined to live the best life he could, by attending family activities, his grandson’s basketball games, and other events around town. Although it was twenty-nine years with his condition, his will to enjoy life and eating good food never ceased. Chester was predeceased by his parents William H. Fields, Jr. and Odessa W. Fields, and brother Michael Fields. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving son, Travis D. Fields, Sr. (Cheri), Virginia Beach, VA, Rhalo Fields of Fayetteville NC, one sister, Cathy Fields-Vercher; two brothers, William H. Fields Ill, and Robert F. Fields, all of Portsmouth, VA., two grandsons; Travis D. Fields, Jr., and Tyriq D. Fields of Virginia Beach, VA., one great grandson Kayden A. Fields, and other relatives and friends. Rest well our dearly beloved one. |
