Obituary for Curtis Williams
Curtis Williams slipped peacefully away on January 11, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia.
He was a graduate of Miami Edison Senior High School in Miami Florida in 1974. After
completing high school, Curtis joined the military. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974
and retired in February 2000 as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. While serving in the Navy, he
traveled across the United States and was deployed overseas several times.
On April 1, 1977, Curtis married Zandra Whitehead and to this union, they had four
children.
In 1990, Curtis became stationed in Norfolk, VA, and moved his family to Chesapeake,
VA. He and his family joined New Hope Baptist Church between 1991 and 1992. Curtis
became very active in the church where he joined several ministries including the usher
ministry, choir, and brotherhood, and was also a Trustee of the church.
After retiring, Curtis spent many years as a long-distance truck driver which required
him to drive from the east coast to the west coast. He enjoyed driving long distances
until May 2020.
Curtis loved to travel, play golf, watch television, and carry on a conversation with
anybody. His love of history and politics could keep him talking for hours. Curtis loved
his family, and he had a special love for his grandchildren who could do no wrong.
Curtis was predeceased by his parents Peter and Adeline Williams, and his sisters Rita
Williams and Paulette Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife Zandra of 46 years, his four children Connell,
Lamont, Aric, and Monique Williams, his brother Byron K Williams, 14 grandchildren,
along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Curtis’ departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memories will live on in the
hearts of all who loved him.
