Thomas was born in Littleton, North Carolina on March 2, 1945, to the late Claude Marvin Pitchford Sr: and Lorine Hockaday Pitchford.
A Time To Live
Thomas was a graduate of John R. Hawkins High School in Warrenton, North Carolina. After graduation he joined the workforce as a skilled brick mason, a trade that he was taught in high school. Thomas joined the Army in 1963. After being honorably discharged in 1966 he moved to Portsmouth, VA. There he enrolled into the apprentice program at Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock, Norfolk VA, becoming its first Black Inside Machinist. He later went on to sell real estate and worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth VA serving as a Machinist Supervisor until he retired in 1997.

On Saturday July 29, 2023, Thomas, (aka Glen), was called from labor to reward at home surrounded by family.

He was preceded by and will join his father Claude M. Pitchford Sr, mother Lorine Pitchford and brother Claude M. Pitchford Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Pitchford; daughter Helen Parker, (Bernis); granddaughter Akilah Parker: grandson Bakari Parker: great granddaughters Madison and Mckenzie Parker: brother John Pitchford (Annie): brother-in-law Johnny Moore (Kathie); Special cousin Wilson Williams and a host of beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
