Mrs. Vanessa Wolfrey-Ellis was born June 03,1954 to the late Austin Wolfrey and Mary Wolfrey.
Vanessa was the middle child an often bragged how there was never a dull moment in her childhood. She became a member of New Middle Swamp Baptist Church very early early which impacted her strong faith in God.
One Sunday visit with a coworker to thier fathers church impacted her so much that she joined and served there for many years (Celestial Baptist Church). She served as Church Nurse and a memeber of the Senior Choir. She truly loved her fellow choir memebers and the friends that became family at Celestial.
Vanessa was blessed to find love and support in a man she met through friends. She was united in holy matrimony to Robert Ellis and remained married for over 30 years before his passing (2021).
The two were the best parents to thier children Nakia Knox (Mansa) and Robert Ellis. The highlight of Vanessa’s life were her two grandchildren Elijah and Myles whom she spoiled on a daily basis, along with her beloved cat Oscar.
The words “no” and “You can’t have” never applied to them!
Vanessa became a LPN because of her passion for caring for the elderly and love of the healthcare system. She worked as a nurse and Wound Care Specialist for 23 years before retiring.
She also loved reading, ordering from catalogs and sending robert to the store knowing he would get something wrong. Between the grandkids, cat and her spouse, Vanessa found joy and exciment daily.
Vanessa leaves to cherish her memories: four sisters Marilyn Bowser-Richardson (Bernard), Fannie Wiggins (Reginald) Doraine Spence (Shelton) & Janice Baker (Ray).
Three brothers: Rev John Wolfrey (Lernette (deceased), Austin Wolfrey(Loraine), Reginald Wolfrey (Kathy). She had three sisters that preceded her in death, Helen Wolfrey, Mrya Blow(Larry) Connie Price (Clifton) and one brother Brian Wolfrey (Chinita).
She also leaves a special uncle Willie Floyd Gary (Ellen), host of nieces, newphews, cousins and several special friends she considered as sisters. The lives she impacted will forever hold special memories of her.
