God did not promise “Sun without Rain” light without darkness or joy without pain. He promised us “Strength for the Day”, when the darkness comes and we lose our way. For only through sorrow do we grow more aware, that God is our refuge in times of despair.
On December 30, 2022, our beloved Vernie Boone Jr (June Boone) departed this life. He was born December 8, 1950, to the late Vernie Boone Sr and Leola Parker Boone. June was predeceased by his sisters Laura Lee Beele, Joyce Jones, Gladys Holloway, Alma Mitchell and Rebecca Grant and a brother William Boone.
Boone was a retired Longshoreman from the Local ILA 1248. He loved being a Longshoreman and he loved people and people loved him. Boone lived in the Park Place area in Norfolk for many years and he was well known there. He loved to ride motorcycles and always wore his hat cocked to the side. If Boone was not hanging out with his friends he would be in the country spending time with his family listening to his oldie but goodies. You can catch him calling someone at some point a “Duck Plucker”.
Boone leaves to cherish is loving children Eunice Monger, Vivian Braswell Picot (James) all of Franklin, VA, Junlene Ricks of Queens, NY, Antonio Newsome (Andrea) of Portsmouth, VA, Vernon Boyd of Norfolk, VA, Marc Thomas of Newport News, VA, Tocara Brevard of Virginia Beach, VA, Tiffany McDuffie of Portsmouth, VA, Angel Boone of Newport News, VA, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His brother Willie Boone (Linda) of Chesapeake, VA, Lee Moses Boone (Helena) of Roanoke, VA, his sister Myrion Boone of Chesapeake, VA and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A special thank you to everyone who loved our father. |
