James M. Brotherton

James Monroe Brotherton, 85, was born June 8, 1937, to Margaret Brotherton in Salisbury, NC.  He passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning, September 17, 2022.

James graduated from high school in 1955 and afterwards joined the US Navy.  He was employed by UPS as a Truck Driver and a member of the Teamsters until his retirement in 1995.  He attended Union Baptist Church (Shoulders Hill) in Suffolk, VA, until his health declined.  James enjoyed watching football and basketball, with basketball being his favorite sport.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and his son, Lawrence Brotherton.

James was loved and will be missed by his wife-Hattie Pope Brotherton; his daughter-Teressa Anthony; his son-Eric Brotherton; his sisters-Ruth Williams and Jody Archie; his grandchildren-Angeal Brotherton (Kelly), Christine Lawrence (Kevin), Cavin Brotherton(Korrina), Tyrone Brotherton , and Yazmine Brotherton; great-grandchildren-Tiera Brotherton (Jeremy), Ishiara Lawrence, Kaila Brotherton, Kamil Patterson, Cassidy Lawrence, Shamari Brotherton and Thaddeus Brotherton; and one great-great grandchild-Apollo Pope.
