On June 26, 2022, Our Almighty God whispered “It’s time to come home my child. It is time to rest. Your journey is over. You have served me well. I have a special place in my kingdom waiting for you. Then He sent his angels down to bring Everett home.
Everett was a faithful servant, a tender hearted, generous and devoted husband, Dad, grandPAPA, father-in-law, brother and uncle. Everett’s love for life was contagious. In addition to spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews he loved to fish. Family gatherings and cook-outs were also a nice time because he could spend precious time with family. He was also man of many teachings. He taught patience and how to be a positive and kind person. Everett also taught responsibility to the young and the young at heart. Everett’s sunny personality teaching was how to smile. Everett always smiled because he didn’t want anyone to know the constant pain, he was in. Whenever someone asked him how he was feeling it was always the same throughout his adulthood he never let on how much pain he was in. Whenever someone asked him how he was feeling it was always the same answer, “Blessed to be here.” Even though he battled many illnesses since his teen-aged years, and throughout his adulthood he never let on how much pain he was in. At the age of 15 he was told he wouldn’t live to the age of 18. Through prayer he proved the doctors wrong. But the best and only doctor that he truly trusted was the good Lord. Because HE has the final say.
Everett, AKA Rabbit to some, Shorty to most, and Uncle to a lot. But his greatest title was DAD. He always said his four children were his life, his greatest joy. Throughout his life’s battle Shorty never lost his faith. His Savior was always hand in hand with Shorty. He carried Shorty but most of all HE blessed him. Shorty lived his life to the fullest. He always put God first in everything he did. In 2019, Everett again gave his life to God thru baptism. He joined Living Water Redeemed Apostolic Church of Christ in Newport News, VA.
Everett had a heart that would help anyone -family, stranger or foe. Foe? If he had any he would help them also. “We are all GOD’s children” he would say. Even with limited eyesight Everett always saw the beauty in the world around him and the beauty in people.
Shorty received his early education thru Norfolk County Public Schools, now known as Chesapeake Public Schools. Although education was very important to him, Everett wasn’t able to continue his. So, he started working with his dad doing landscaping. Since the age of 15, Everett was in and out of the hospital. When he was too ill to attend church, Everett would listen to Gospel music. He always said music soothes the soul. Between doctor appointments and hospital stays, Everett always found a way to make a dollar. His Dad always said if Shorty could see he would be a rich man. As an adult Everett worked in the Richmond/Henrico County Public School Food Service for elementary children for a number of years. Later he worked for Chesapeake Public Schools Transportation for Special Education.
In 1988 he met and dated Janice. With a blessed marriage union in 1993, they loved and raised three sons: Richmond Fire Department Captain William T. Spindle III, of Chester, VA, US Army David Gonzalez of PA, and Nathaniel Roscoe of Portsmouth, VA; and one daughter-Lisa S. Goad of Chesterfield, VA. Missing his “light up a room smiles” are: daughter-in-law Althea Wilburn-Spindle, ESQ. of Chester, VA and son-in-law Matthew Goad of Chesterfield, VA. Missing his hugs, laughter, and words of wisdom are four grandbabies: Xavier and Jayla of Henrico County, VA, Kendis of Chester, VA and Karter of Newport News, VA.
Also surviving Everett are six brothers in laws: Matthew Johnson of Portsmouth, VA, Vernon A. Brown, Keith M. Brown, Eric R. Brown, Stephen B. Brown all of Richmond/Henrico, VA and William Stolkey of Chesapeake, VA; six sisters-in law: Beverly (Keith), Lynette (Eric), Marguerite(Stephen) and Karen Carter all of Henrico/ Richmond, VA, Cathy (aka Patience) Roscoe, and Vanetia Mills Beamon of Texas, and a true family friend Ora “Vickie” Russell of Richmond, VA.
Treasuring a lifetime of memories are his 4 sisters: Sharon Beamon, Jacqueline Stokley and Lynda Nixon all of Chesapeake, VA and Gloria M. Beamon-Johnson of Portsmouth, VA; 3 brothers: Michael Roscoe, Emmitt roscoe and Charles AKA “Fat” all Chesapeake, VA; 2 aunts and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Waiting for Shorty in the Promise Land are his grandparents Joseph and Lucille Roscoe, Lynda Roscoe, his beautiful mother Gloria “Thelma” Beamon, his dad Willis “Bill“ Beamon, sister Catherine, brother “Boot” all from Chesapeake, VA; in laws-Vernon Browns Sr., Gladys Brown and his buddy Jacob Green all of Henrico, VA; a dear friend, Robert “Mr. Rob” Goad of Chesterfield, VA and the three young nephews who proceeded him in 2021.
To My Four Adorable Kids It has always been my pleasure to call you mine. From the first day I saw you I knew in my heart that we would always share the bond of family. Every day my love for you grew, and no amount of miles could come between us. Remember what I’ve always told you throughout the years…” Love and Respect God, yourself and others.” Love, Dad |
