Felecia Renee Cherry, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, welcomed God’s call home to eternal rest on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
She was born on November 26, 1958, to the late James Warner Mitchell and the late Louise Elliott Mitchell of Portsmouth, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clayton L. Mitchell.
Felecia, we affectionately called her “LeeLee”, loved to sing. While growing up she sung in the New Hope Baptist Church-Gust Lane choirs, Mrs. Field’s neighborhood gospel choir, The Little Spiritualettes of Portsmouth and every school talent show she tried out for.
Felecia was a 1977 graduate of Manor High School located in Portsmouth. She was also a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Class of 1981. She worked several jobs over her lifetime; she really enjoyed working at Walmart until her health began to fail.
Felecia leaves cherished memories to her loving and devout husband of 26 years-James Henry Cherry, Jr.; daughters-Telesia Nichol Hawkins, Neketa Ward and Keoshia Cherry; sons-Arnold Keith Hall, Jr. and Javarro Cherry. She also leaves treasured memories to one brother-Dwight R. Mitchell; sisters-Denise L. Davis, Crystal Murdock-Mitchell, Sonya L. Mitchell and Angela F. McCoy all of Portsmouth, VA. She leaves memories to one brother-in-law-Robert L. Cherry (Angela) of South Carolina; sisters-in-law-Evelyn Gray (Willie) and Vennesta Hamlin (Frank) both of Suffolk, VA; 10 grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, a very special friend and coworker, Doris Hamilton; and second family, The Williams-Gloria, Charlotte and Sandra.
