On April 8th, 2022, Deacon Steve Alexander Bynum Sr. gained his heavenly wings. Deacon Bynum was born on May 1st, 1945, to Missouri Ann Lewis in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated high school from Booker T Washington in Norfolk, VA. He then went on to graduate from Norfolk State University with a B.S. in Biology and a Master’s in Biology from Old Dominion University.
While attending Norfolk State University he met and married Betty R. Bullock in 1967. From their union they had three children, Gwenona, Jacqueline, and Steve Jr.
He served in the Army active duty from 1969-1975 and then the Reserves until 2001 when he retired. He was also a biology teacher with Chesapeake Public Schools at Deep Creek High School for 35 years. After retirement, he worked at the Mosquito Control in Chesapeake and was a current member of the board. He also was a member of a Parliamentarian Society and a member of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Deacon Bynum was predeceased in death by his wife Betty, and his daughter Gwenona. He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter Jacqueline, a son Steve Jr., a granddaughter La’Shel and a grandson Vershawn, and his special lady friend Ms. Easter Edwards.
Deacon Bynum was patient, kind and steadfast in his love of the Lord and his family. He will be sorely missed by all who’s life he touched. |
