Wallace Sherrod was a God-fearing man and faithful member of Providence AME Zion Church. He was always willing to help and visit the sick and shut in. He fed the less fortunate, served on the Former Steward and was the superintendent over Sunday School that he also taught. Wallace facilitated the Twilight Sunday School and always went to every church in his community to support the Twilight Sunday School. He was a long-standing member of the Usher Board up until his passing. Wallace also supported the Auxiliary and assisted with the Youth Society.
He attended Chowan University NC and Arkansas State University, where he pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Wallace is predeceased by his father, Marion (Rock) Sherrod, his mother, Mary Etta Sherrod, brothers Henry Lee Cooper, A.B. Sherrod and Lonnie Sherrod.
He leaves behind his son Marcus & Shakeerrah Ray, Marie Veal & Dwayne Ray. His sisters-Mary H. Sherrod, Marian Lewis of NC; brothers-James Edward Sherrod, Russell & Rhonda Sherrod, Melvin & Cynthia Sherrod of GA; sister-in-law Bertha Sherrod of MI; grandchildren-Aaliyah, Mya, Marcus Jr., Ayonna, Jaylan, Antoine, Anthony & Jeremiah; his nieces-Tawanda Sherrod, Joshua Cooper, Yolanda Hatch, Mary Nicole Sherrod, Crystal Cooper, Latoya Rogers & Kaleah Solomon; along with a host of great nieces & nephews; his aunt & uncle, Melvin & Yvonne Brown; brothers & sister/cousins-Alexander (Pop) Cooper, Donnie Cooper & Judy Johnson.
Uncle Wallace had a saying for everything like -where are you going? He would say: āIām going to see a hog about a ham.ā He will be truly missed.
