Donald Raymond Blake, 66, was born June 6,1955, in Portsmouth, VA to Thomas and Ruth Blake. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021, surrounded by loving family in Suffolk, VA. Donald attended school in Yonkers, NY. He was employed for 40 years by Hamilton Cleaners in Eastchester’s, NY. A man of many crafts, Donald loved fishing and owned six Gift and Flower Shops in New York and one in Virginia.
He was very active in the flower ministry because he believed that you should give flowers to people when they are alive and can appreciate them. January 1976, Donald joined King’s Highway Apostolic Church in Yonkers, NY. Later that year he was saved and baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost. He remained a faithful member to the end. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents and his brother Dr. Roy Blake, MD. He is survived by his brother Thomas M. Blake and four children Charlene, Robert, Precious and Dominique Blake and two grandchildren.
He had a special love for his cousin Connie Blake and Zaidan Blake-Stephenson, whom he raised like a grandson. He will be missed by a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, stepsiblings, and friends. The family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the many acts of kindness (including prayers, condolences, calls, texts, cards, flowers, visits, donations, words, of encouragement, and support) as we mourn the loss of Donald. Special acknowledgements to Cousin Connie Blake, who cared for Donald from the onset of his illness to his transition into heaven. |
