Willie L. Darden Jr. “Junior,” 87, departed this life on October 24, 2017 at Waverly Health and Rehabilitation Center, Waverly, VA. He was born on October 23, 1930 to the late Willie L. Sr. and Lee C. Darden. He was a graduate of Little State now Norfolk State University having received a B.A. in History. Willie was a former teacher for both Portsmouth and Suffolk School Systems and was a U.S. Navy Veteran .
Willie loved teaching and taught school as long as his sickness allowed him to do so. He loved jazz, classical, and opera music.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Darden and James Darden.
Willie is survived by: three sisters, Mary Joseph (Alfredo) of San Diego, CA, Phyllis Richardson of Detroit, MI, and Violet C. Brown of Portsmouth, VA; one brother, Thomas Darden of Portsmouth, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, 4 pm at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel.
