Mother Willie Beatrice Killebrew Jenkins, affectionately called ”Bea,” transitioned from labor to reward peacefully at home on the early morning of Monday, June 4th, 2018 and is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. She was the age of 84. Mother Jenkins was born on August 24th, 1933 to the late Richard and Laura Killebrew in Edgecombe County located in Tarboro, NC. As a child she received Jesus Christ as her Savior at a very early age.
She attended Edgecombe County Schools thru the 11th grade. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Bishop LV Jenkins and remained devoted to him for a very blessed 65 years as of May 2018. They moved to Virginia from Tarboro, NC. Mother Jenkins continued living for The Lord while working in the church. She loved to sing. In Virginia she worked as a Cafeteria Server at the Camelot Elementary School of Chesapeake, VA. With her beloved sister, Daisy Jenkins, side by side they both worked for many years at Bennett’s Creek Nursery. Mother Jenkins was a faithful member of the following churches: Chief Cornerstone Church (Pughsville, VA), New St. Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church (Ahoskie & Rocky Mount, NC), and Community Church of Christ (Suffolk, VA). She was a dedicated Church Mother, counselor, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
Mother Jenkins proudly birthed and raised 14 beautiful children, 8 daughters and 6 sons, two daughters of which preceded her in death, Mary E. Johnson (Lavane) and Juanita Hill. Her 12 surviving children are Leonard Jenkins, Linda Peele, Brenda Richardson (Nathan), Johnny Jenkins, Paul Jenkins, James Jenkins (Cathy), Theresa Elliott (Richard), Eunice Hayes (Marcus), Lenora Thomas (Boezelliar), Michael Jenkins (Natasha), Kenneth Jenkins (Yvette), and Anita Copeland. She was an affectionate grandmother to her 90 grandchildren in total: ((43 Grandchildren (one deceased granddaughter, Stephanie Futrell Wright); 44 Great Grandchildren; & 3 Great-Great Grandchildren)). She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Maggie Lawrence, Alice Jean Mitchell-Wright, Daisy Jenkins, Mary Lee Harrison, Minnie Killebrew, Joe Killebrew, Richard Killebrew and Robert Killebrew. She loved her devoted nieces & sister-in-law (Cynthia Williams, Aleshia Futrell, Janie McKinnon & Von Jenkins), a wide host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
We all will sadly miss Mother’s Wisdom, Encouragement, Wit, Love, Country Cooking, and especially her anointed singing that touched our souls.
