October 27, 1939 - October 3, 2017
On October 27, 1939, our Heavenly Father blessed our beloved William Oliver Cecil Holloman, Sr. to be the fourth eldest of ten children born to the union of the late St. James Eric and St. Mary Howard Holloman in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
With much zeal and excitement he would render “Joy, Joy,” “The Holy City” or whatever selection was requested. He willingly sang for God and loved the choir, utilizing his talent to the best of his ability.
His musical abilities extended beyond the church. His love and respect for humankind fostered a personality that was was as awesome as his voice. He brought joy, excitement and pleasure to all who were blessed to know him. His smile was infectious and would light up any room he entered. Everyone who spent time with Bill knew he had quick wit and a great sense of humor. To be in his company was to be entertained. Whether watching old movies, a boxing match or just playing cards, he loved spending time with family and friends.
William displayed incredible faith and courage in the face of many complex health challenges. He remained lighthearted and unwavering in his trust in God. Without complaints, he fought a good fight, he ran the race, and kept the faith. On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, William fell asleep and the Almighty God quietly escorted him to that heavenly realm from labor to reward commending, “Well done thou good and faithful servant….Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
His father and mother, James and Mary Agnes Holloman and siblings DoLores Holloman-Gallo and Alvin Holloman predeceased William. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his children: Angela Andrews (Curtis), Donna Holloman, Sharon Holloman (Steve), William Holloman Jr. (Tina), Cindy Mosley (Jimmy), Tueresa Hayden (Jerry), Marlena Ascencio, Elijah Holloman, Delores Ascencio, Sally Ascencio, and Brenda Ascencio; 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; his brothers Clifton and Clayton Holloman; his sisters Mildred Wiggins, Carole Waters, Sherdina Lewis, Marietta Wynne and Celestine Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, saints and friends.
