Wilbert Odell Jordan was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Ida Mae Jordan and Lindsey Vaughan on October 13, 1964. He was reared in Portsmouth, Virginia by his mother and was a product of the Portsmouth Public Schools.

 

Wilbert was an outstanding athlete. He was well known for his crowd pleasing moves on the football field as well as the basketball court. After High School, Wilbert became a father to a son and daughter. He entered the workforce where he worked various jobs during his life covering from the Richmond to the Tidewater areas of Virginia. Wilbert was very fond of everyone that he encountered. He never met a stranger. He was the life of any party or social occurrence. He had a joyous demeanor, and everyone loved him.

 

Wilbert was preceded in death by his brother Grover “Marty” Jordan. Wilbert leaves the world his most prized gifts from God his son Justin Moore and daughter Denikqua Merritt (William), one adorable grandson William Merritt, Jr.; to mourn him; two sisters, Lynette Fields and Sonjia Barron (Ketrick); a brother Keith Jordan; Nephews Travis Fields Sr. (Cheri), Damani Beckham and Legend Beckham; nieces, LaKuana Williams (Michael) and Chelsea Haskins; and a very special friend Tanya Prunty; a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, a great- great niece and great-great nephews and friends.

 

Odell will truly be missed.
