Walter (Walt) Edward Anderson, age 70, entered Heaven’s gate on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. He was born August 8, 1949 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Edna and Edward Anderson. Walter grew up in the Truxton neighborhood of Portsmouth where he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System and was a proud graduate of I. C. Norcom High School (Class of 1967). He attended Norfolk State University.

 

Walter proudly served his country four years as a United States Marine. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1975.

 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Jessie (Blount) Anderson; daughter, Javon; son, Lamarr (Jay); six grandchildren, Jada, Joshua, Chyna, Tigan, Morgan, and Micah; one brother, Leon Anderson (Willie) of Hampton, Virginia; two sisters, Minister Rena Anderson of Chesterfield, Virginia and Louise Wingate (Lester) of Waldorf, Maryland and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
