Virginia Gale Stitt was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on December 26, 1955 to Hattie and Robert Stitt. She was the youngest of 8 siblings. She attended I.C. Norcom High School and thereafter she worked as a Cook for Moma Chan Restaurant. She was known for her ability to make you smile, laugh and cry all at the same time. Her charismatic personality allowed her to have an optimistic view of life no matter the hardships and struggles she faced. Her strength allowed her to overcome the pain and suffering of a tough life regardless of its toll.

Gale was a loving mother and grandmother, caring aunt and friend to those who shared in her life. She will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Gale’s infectious smile and good cheer shall live on for all those she knew. Her strength to endure will be a testament to all those who faced adversities in life.

She was predeceased by Hattie L. Stitt (mother), Robert W. Stitt (father), Lucille Glenda Bernadetta Stitt (sister) and Robert W. Stitt, Jr (brother). She is survived by her two sons, Willie M. Stitt and Otis L. Stitt (Cory), her six remaining siblings, Hattie Simon, James Stitt, Michael Stitt, Valarie Johnson, Marcia Johnson and Reginal Stitt; five grandchildren as well as a host of cousin, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her til time is no more.
