Vernon Andrew Norvell, 23, received his wings on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born March 2, 1997 in Portsmouth to Angela Norvell-Abdullah and Leon Vernon Knight Jr. Vernon, was affectionately known as “Lil V” by his family and friends.
Growing up Lil V loved to play sports like basketball, football, baseball and soccer. Vernon gave his life to Christ as a teenager. He was baptized and became a member of Third Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA. He was an active member of the Youth and Male Choirs, Youth Ushers and Andrew Brothers Men’s Ministry. Vernon attended I. C. Norcom High School but later transferred to Churchland High School where he graduated. As an adult, Lil V’s passion was rapping, he was known as KyWay Vee. The poetic artistry that he exhibited and delivery of his verses made you feel the love he had for his craft. He was a great student of the game with his technique and flow and will surely be missed in the studio.
Vernon was predeceased by his father Leon Vernon Knight Jr; his maternal grandparents Nancy Ann Norvell and Vernon C. Norvell; his paternal grandparents Evelyn Parker Knight and Leon Vernon Knight Sr., paternal uncle Maurice Louis Knight. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Alec Mason Norvell, Amonte Andrew Norvell Rodgers, Kaydence Dior Norvell, his mother Angela Norvell-Abdullah, his brother Michael Norvell; two sisters Crystal (Antonio) Edwards and Sheila (Leon) Battle; a devoted loving maternal aunt Lisa Norvell, who raised him for 10+ years of his life; three maternal uncles Carnell Norvell, Michael (Cheron) Norvell, Quentin (Tenisha) Norvell, a loving uncle Larry Woods Sr.; two paternal aunts Cynthia (Junius) Hopson and Jaqueline Knight. And a host of great aunts & great uncles, nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.
Vernon truly loved his family, especially his cousins he grew up with who were more like his siblings. To his friends, Lil V had a warm heart and kept a smile on his face no matter what was going on.
