Valerie G. Wilson affectionately called “Val” was born in Norfolk County, VA on December 22, 1948 to Ethelbert West and the late Maddie E. West. She was a graduate of Crestwood High School Class of 1968
She was a caregiver and volunteered at Oasis for several years. She as very outspoken but was very lovable to all who crossed her path. Her hobbies include crabbing, singing and enjoying browsing yard sales and thrift stores. She was an excellent cook and was famous for her spaghetti, potato salad and devil eggs. Valerie was a classy dresser and loved jewelry and purses. Her favorite purse (a gift from her “Juicy”, also known as Jewel) was a red coach bag. She loved her family and leaves behind to cherish her memories:
Her two daughters, Paula Bethea (Norfolk, VA), and Eboni West (Portsmouth, VA); five grandchildren, Jamel West, Jaila Clark, Deontrace Ward, Jaden Smith, and Jewel Smith; her father Ethelbert N. West (Treasure); 3 siblings Barbara C. Fentress (Portsmouth), Christopher E. West (Portsmouth), and Minister Mary M. Sorrell (Suffolk) and she was predeceased by her brother William E. West; Nieces and Nephews, extended family members and many loving and dear friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016, 12 Noon at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2o16 from 12 Noon to 8 pm and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 pm to 8 pm.
