Shelia Woodby Griffin, beloved mother and grandmother, entered eternal rest on September 23, 2022. Shelia was born on March 31, 1951, to the late Thomas Woodby and Elizabeth Cofer Woodby in Isle of Wight County, VA. She was one of four children-one brother and two sisters. She moved to Hampton, Virginia where she started a beautiful family. Shelia had two gorgeous children-a son Spence Woodby and daughter Deborah E. Woodby.

She worked for Hampton City Schools as a cafeteria manager for over 10 years. During that time, she received several awards for her service. She later met and married the love of her life, Richard L. Griffin Sr. When Shelia was not traveling across country with her beloved husband, her spare time was spent cooking, entertaining family and making floral arrangements. Her willingness to go the extra mile for others and protect those around her is what made her who she was.

She was known for her determination, spunky attitude and generous spirit. Shelia is preceded in death by her devoted husband, parents, sisters Maria Woodby-Mayfield, Millicent Allison, brother Rodney Richardson and special son Bernie.

She is survived by her loving children, Spence Woodby, Deborah Woodby- Carter; stepchildren Derrick Griffin, Lawanda Griffin Anderson (Robert Anderson Jr.), and Richard Griffin Jr., grandchildren Qudrell Bethea, Dominique L. Carter Jr. (Brianna Baxter), Khadijah Harper, Isaih Grange, Destinyi and Dyamin Anderson and one great grand Rex, she also leaves behind a sister Keri Woodby, niece Lynze Smith, Myira Gregory and a host of family and friends; Mr. Herbert Diggs and Irving B. Goldstein. Please forgive us if we did not acknowledge you or your loved ones personally. She will truly be missed but not forgotten.
