Sarah Baker Hardie departed this life on August 10, 2017. She was born November 25, 1925, to the late Perry Baker and Sadie Cross Baker. She was a graduate of Elizabeth City State Teachers College, and was a teacher in the Portsmouth Public School system for 25 years prior to her retirement in 1987.
She was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Martha Chapter #10, Order of Eastern Star.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Moses Hardie, Jr. of Canton, Ga, one sister, Mamie Hinton of Corapeake, NC, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
A wake will be held on Friday, August 18th, at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel from 6:30 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017, 11 am, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 728 Effingham Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321.
