Rose Marie Banks was born on November 19, 1947, to the late Mary E. Johnson and Leroy Johnson of York County.  On Friday, December 10th, surrounded by her loving family, she gained her precious wings and entered home to eternal rest.  Rose accepted Christ at an early age at Grafton Baptist Church in Grafton, Virginia.

Rose Banks worked in the Nursing field as a Private Duty Nurse until her health started to decline.  She was always a beacon of light, full of laughter, joy and high spirits.  She was a very beautiful, intelligent and amazing Queen of Blackness.  She was a mighty warrior who overcame so much in her life that anyone around her would admire her strength and dedication.  She loved to dance so gracefully, and it was a true passion for her.  Rose and Kenneth Banks were united in matrimony, and he was the love of her life.

Mrs. Rose Banks was preceded in death by her mother, Mary E. Johnson and father, Leroy Johnson; brothers-Eugene Foster and Chester Foster.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her children-Lynette Harris (Bruce) of Newport News, Donna Cheatham (Michael) of Windsor, North Carolina, Donald Johnson, Jr. (Carlene) of Newport News, Charlie Belle of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mary Johnson of Richmond, Virginia; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
