Rosalind T. Harris, 58, departed this life on March 30, 2017. She was born on April 16, 1958 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late David Downey and Rosa Jones Moore. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Portsmouth, (Class of 75′). Rosalind was employed with Hampton Roads Transit for 23 years as a bus driver. She was a member of New First Baptist Taylorsville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carlos Downey.
Left to cherish her memories are: one sister, Karen D. Warren of Portsmouth; three brothers, Michael Downey, Eugene Downey, and Gregory Downey all of Portsmouth; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, devoted friends, Annette Jones, Helen Watkins, Doris Johnson, Christine Ross, and Willie Casper.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, 1 pm at New First Baptist Taylorsville, 2720 Turnpike Rd., Portsmouth, VA 23707. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 6th, from 12 Noon to 8 pm at the funeral home.
